JOOLS HOLLAND
and The Rhythm & Blues Orchestra

at Cheltenham Town Hall

On Sunday 19th April 1998 I went to the Cheltenham Town Hall to see JOOLS HOLLAND and The Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. He was performing at the Town Hall on the closing night of Cheltenham's International Jazz Festival.

Before JOOLS came on stage we were treated to some Cuban music courtesy of a nine piece band called SIERRA MAESTRA, the band was made up of:-

  • JUAN DE MARCOS GONZÁLEZ CÁRDENAS - Tres, vocal and leader
  • DANIEL RAMOS ALAYO -Trumpet
  • CARLOS GONZÁLEZ - Bongos
  • CARLOS PISSEAUX - Güiro
  • ALBERTO VALDÉS - Maracas and Vocal
  • LUIS BÁRGAZA - Vocals
  • JOSÉ ANTONIO RODRÍGUEZ - Guitar and Vocals
  • EDUARDO HIMELY - Bass and Tumbadora
  • ALEJANDRO SUÁREZ - Clave and Vocal
  • I enjoyed this performance a lot as it reminded me of the LIVE PERFORMANCE album released in 1994, although the thing that made the concert special for me were the vocals of SAM BROWN.

  • JOOLS HOLLAND - Piano / Vocals
  • SAM BROWN - Vocals
  • RICO RODRIGUEZ - Trombone
  • GILSON LEVIS - Drums
